Take steps to defend against ticks

Thanks to Dr Kari Reiber, Dutchess County Health Commissioner for this:

It's no longer just about Lyme disease. The list of emerging tick-borne diseases is seemingly never-ending. All these diseases present nonspecific flu-like symptoms. Diagnostic testing is of limited value both during early stages, when treatment is most effective, and later... All tick-borne diseases can have serious complications if untreated or inadequately treated...Accurate diagnosis and treatment are problematic even when awareness is high...

This past year, the Dutchess County Department of Health surveyed local healthcare providers to assess their knowledge and current practices in the diagnosis and treatment of tickborne diseases. Although awareness in our area is high, results of the survey indicate providers would benefit from further education about emerging diseases, testing recommendations and treatment guidelines.
READ more at site with prevention information. We have nothing else in our bag of tricks! Research which is at a pittance must be funded to protect and prevent!
