Fungal Alcohol Disrupts Dopamine & Causes Neurodegeneration

This research study indicates that a common type of mold prevalent in houses that have been water damaged may be a significant contributor to the development of Parkinson's disease in humans. I am attaching a PDF file of the study. The report is highly technical, but the Introduction and Discussion sections are understandable to the lay reader (such as me).

One of the more dramatic conclusions is that this type of mold is ten times more damaging to the dopamine system in humans than toluene is. I was exposed to toluene in my teenage years and know that it is nasty stuff. It's hard to believe that a naturally-occuring and ubiquitous substance such as mold could be so dangerous.
